Posted on 03 Aug 2011
An innovative special-purpose operating table aids physicians perform precision surgery in orthopedics, traumatology, and neurosurgery (OTN).

The Maquet Yuno OTN allows all surgical procedures related to the skeleton to be carried out on a single operating table, with a high degree of precision. More...
With an adjustable height range of 600 mm, the table allows the surgeon to work ergonomically during operations in both seated and standing positions, on patients weighing up to 454 kg. The table is also user- and patient-friendly in regard to imaging procedures, since the metal-free carbon-fiber structures used ensure excellent radio-translucence, making intraoperative repositioning unnecessary in most cases. The modular structure and lightweight carbon-fiber material also allow for quick and simple modification between surgeries by just a single member of the team.

The three-point base and retractable wheels offer excellent stability, while the narrow, but very stable, support column ensures excellent accessibility to the surgical field of both surgeons and C-arms. A range of tailored accessories can be configured quickly for each surgical discipline as required. As a result, the best possible utilization of the operating room (OR) and surgical team is achieved; a single OR table can be used for several different disciplines, which facilitates staff training. Since the table is intuitive and safe to use, it’s use contributes to stress-free working conditions, without compromising performance, and helps to ensure the safety of the patient, successful treatment, and a quick recovery.

Other features of the table include an innovative traction device that allows the patient’s leg to be raised and lowered in an arc, ensuring no unnecessary pressure is applied, and enhancing patient comfort. An autodrive function gently moves the electrically powered table forward by simply pressing a button. Four different remote controls are available: a corded hand control, an infrared (IR) hand control, a foot switch, and an override panel; the hand controls are backlit to allow operation in dimly lit situations. The Yuno OTN surgical table is a product of Maquet (Rastatt, Germany).
