Vacuum-Assisted System Enhances Breast Biopsy Procedures

The Mammotome Revolve combines the ease of a core needle biopsy with the quality of vacuum assistance, and features an advanced specimen management system capable of collecting and organizing high quality individual tissue samples in numbered, specimen radiograph, and pathology-ready chambers that preserve tissue integrity. Together with proprietary DualVac vacuum technology, physicians can control a variable aperture to confirm or adjust sample acquisition in response to procedural situations, especially when accessing and acquiring challenging lesions. An additional benefit is the efficiency of prebiopsy planning time.

The system is compatible with multiple imaging modalities, enabling breast biopsy to be performed under stereotactic X-ray, ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), or molecular imaging guidance. A full array of tissue markers is available to mark the biopsy site for follow-up observations.
