By HospiMedica staff writers
Posted on 29 Nov 2001
A new electrosurgical system offers conventional modes for monopolar and bipolar cutting and coagulation with functions for a wide range of applications, ranging from the most delicate microsurgical procedures to power-intensive vaporization.

The electrosurgical generator serves as the master operating unit, with additional operating room (OR) modules that can be integrated into the system. More...
The system's hardware and software can be individually configured to meet the requirements of doctors in many different medical fields. The Twin Coag mode is for use in procedures such as heart or breast surgery, while Swift Coag is for rapid coagulation and dissection.
Dry Cut provides a high degree of hemostasis or APC (argon-plasma coagulation) with controllable penetration depth. A PreView function graphically shows on a monitor the expected tissue effects.

The system, called Vio, offers all modern regulatory systems, with regulation of voltage, arcing, and output. The monitor's dialog function permits interactive operation. Vio is the product of Erbe Elektromedizin GmbH (Tubingen, Germany).
