High Field Orthopedic Magnetic Resonance Scanner

By HospiMedica staff writers
Posted on 17 Oct 2000
A recently launched orthopedic magnetic resonance (MR) scanner offers radiologists and clinicians image quality and clinical flexibility comparable to full-body, high-field systems. More...
It is designed for use in musculoskeletal radiology, sports medicine, and other orthopedic applications.

Called OrthOne (1.0 Tesla), the scanning system incorporates Imaging Applications Platform (IAP) technology from Cedara Software (Toronto, Canada). OrthOne provides clearer, more-detailed images of the fine anatomy in the extremities faster than low-field MR systems on the market, says Oni Corp. (North Andover, MA, USA), which is marketing the system. OrthOne occupies only nine square meters of floor space, about one-fifth of the space required to accommodate a typical full-body system.

"By choosing Cedara as a partner to build OrthOne, Oni leveraged our more than ten years of investment, experience, and innovation in the creation of market-leading software development technologies,” said Arun Menawat, president, Cedara Imaging and Information Solutions division.
