Software for Ultrasound Offers Ultra-Fast 3D

New software for ultrasound, called 3D Express, offers fast freehand, one-touch data acquisition. More...
The software can be integrated into the Sonoline Omnia and Sienna ultrasound systems of the Ultrasound Group of Siemens Medical Systems (Issaquah, WA, USA).

The 3D Express option, particularly well suited for fetal viewing, provides three-dimensional images of a fetus in just four seconds with any convex or linear array transducer, while implementing a linear or rocked acquisition technique. The nearly instantaneous image reconstruction time allows rapid assessment and increased patient throughput. The 3D Express may also be a valuable diagnostic tool that can further illustrate certain fetal abnormalities, such as spina bifida, cleft lip/palate, and polydactyl. Subtle features such as low-set ears, facial dysmorphia, or clubbing of feet may be better assessed.

"With Siemens 3D Express, physicians will be able to quickly and affordably provide a truer, more realistic view of the fetus, delivering the "baby face' surface rendering that patients are so interested in,” said Gordon Parhar, senior product manager for the Sonoline Sienna.
