Patients having laparoscopic surgery may experience less postsurgical pain that patients having traditional open surgery. Other benefits include fewer wound complications such as infection and hernia, and the fact that patients can return to work more quickly. The Long45 Endocutter is the product of Ethicon Endo-Surgery, Inc. (Cincinnati, OH, USA).

"Surgeons need instruments like the Long45 Endocutter, which are developed to meet the challenges of weight loss surgery,” said Robert Marema, M.D., a leading bariatric surgeon in Florida (USA) who was one of the first to use the Long45. "This device will allow surgeons to perform laparoscopic weight loss surgery with less difficulty.”
