Treatment for Women with Stress Urinary Incontinence

The procedure has shown a high success rate even when other surgical treatments have failed.

In the procedure, surgical mesh is placed under the urethra, where it offers tension-free support during times of stress, thus stopping involuntary leakage of urine. The procedure takes only 20-30 minutes. Called tension-free vaginal tape (TVT), the treatment should be considered for women with SUI for whom nonsurgical treatments have failed after three to six months, says the developer, Gynecare.
