A new service provides testing and maintenance programs for medical imaging displays.

Richardson Electronics Healthcare (LaFox, IL, USA) featured its new TekLink Quality Control and Assurance (QC/QA) Services at the Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM) 2007 annual meeting held in Providence, RI, USA, in June 2007. More...
Participants were able to see how the on-site technical service provides healthcare facilities with conformance, calibration, testing, and maintenance of medical imaging displays.

"More than ever, Healthcare IT [information technology] professionals and PACS [picture archiving and communication systems] administrators are realizing the importance of QC/QA for their displays,” said Dan Verbsky, Richardson Healthcare's director of professional services. "Proper and routine calibration of diagnostic imaging displays is not only critical to providing a high standard of patient care, but it also allows hospitals the ability to meet guidelines for maintaining patient safety and regulations.”

The TekLink QC/QA service performs on-site testing, conformance, and calibration routines with a U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology- (NIST)-tested photometer, and provides the site with a report of each display systems' status. Richardson Electronics Professional Services team also trains healthcare facility staff to institute their own customized QC/QA program, based on their department or facility's specific requirements.

According to Mr. Verbsky, "Richardson Electronics is extremely well positioned to support this demand. Each hospital can choose which level of QC/QA service best suits their needs, allowing them to meet conformance requirements within existing budgetary constraints.”

TekLink QC/QA is offered in three service levels, based on the total number of workstations, how they are configured, and the frequency of visits required per year.

Richardson Electronics is a global provider of integrated display systems and products. The Display Systems Group (DSG) operates technology integration centers in North America and Europe, which allow customers to add a wide range of customized features to liquid crystal display (LCD), plasma, and cathode ray tube (CRT) monitors, including Bezels, NEMA (U.S. National Manufacturers Association) enclosures, video controllers, protective and privacy panels, and touch screens.
