New System to Analyze Physiologic Data

By HospiMedica staff writers
Posted on 16 Jan 2003
A new electrophysiologic recording system measures, interprets, and analyzes physiologic data, including hemodynamic signals, electrocardiograms (ECGs), and intracardiac electrograms. More...
The system has been cleared by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Called Sensis, the system is designed for use by interventional cardiologists and electrophysiologists in an invasive cardiology environment. For example, it provides accurate calculations of all hemodynamic and electrophysiologic data obtained during catheterization and presents the data clearly and concisely to give clinicians more time with the patient. Doctors can also use the system to measure internal cardiac pressures to see how the heart works and if it is functioning properly. Sensis is the product of Siemens Medical Solutions (Erlangen, Germany) and is part of the company's Axiom family.

"The Sensis has the highest signal quality available, allowing for true, crisp signals for diagnosis,” explained Kelly Feist, segment manager, Siemens Medical Solutions. "It really sets the standard for the next generation of hemodynamic and electrophysiologic recording.”
