Repository System Systematizes ECG Management and Storage

A comprehensive data management solution automates the processing and storage of electrocardiogram (ECG) and other records.

The Impax HeartStation ECG management system is a vendor-neutral platform that supports most legacy and new ECG manufacturers. More...
The combination of this neutrality with a standard-based architecture allows the HeartStation system to easily integrate into the existing hospital information technology (IT) infrastructure and ECG workflows.

The system also provides a single, unified, point of access to historic and current ECG exams from multiple modalities supporting rapid review, serial comparison, editing, and electronic signing of ECGs throughout the hospital enterprise. As a result of location-independent access to ECG exams, patient care is dramatically improved in two ways: First, cardiologists can review a patient's ECG exams at locations of their own choosing, that is, anywhere they have secure network access to the hospital enterprise. Secondly, patients benefit as well, as their exams and associated reports are made available at every location in the hospital enterprise, enhancing their care.

An optional cardiovascular suite provides an enterprise-wide, feature-rich, cardiology image and information management solution that connects with imaging equipment and enterprise information systems, providing a comprehensive view of patient data from a single point of access. The Impax HeartStation ECG management system is a product of Agfa HealthCare (Mortsel, Belgium).

"Agfa HealthCare Cardiovascular solution with the HeartStation module supports our vision of developing a cardiovascular electronic patient record [EPR] that facilitates the seamless transfer of images and clinical data, thus increasing workflow and efficiency,” said Richard M. Regnante, M.D., a cardiology consultant for cardiovascular program planning and former chief of cardiology at Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center (Brockton, MA, USA). "We deploy the solution to address the complete cardiac care cycle. For instance, by making ECGs and other cardiology imaging and nonimaging tests available throughout the system, cardiologists and other doctors share patient cardiology information and raise the standard of care.”
