Axon Lab and ITC in Marketing Agreement

By HospiMedica staff writers
Posted on 02 Mar 2005
A new agreement signed by International Technidyne Corp. More...
(ITC, Edison, NJ, USA) and Axon Lab AG (Baden-Dattwil, Switzerland) makes Axon the exclusive distributor for ITC's blood-coagulation monitoring system in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.

Called ProTime, the system is used by doctors and patients to monitor blood coagulation for patients taking oral anticoagulant medications such as warfarin, marcumar, and falithrom. Axon Lab will help ITC establish a strong, local presence for the monitoring system in doctors' offices and for at-home testing. Axon will also focus on developing relationships with prominent clinicians and rehabilitation centers in Germany that train patients for home blood-coagulation testing.

The ProTime system consists of a small, battery-powered instrument, disposable test cuvette, and the Tenderlett Plus incision device. A small amount of blood from a fingerstick is all that is needed to perform the test, and the result is available in minutes. Built-in quality controls help both patients and healthcare professionals remain confident that the system is working properly and that the test is performed correctly.

"Axon Lab AG provides significant sales presence, market credibility, and experience in managing all of the needs related to reaching patients, training, and reimbursement,” noted Lawrence Cohen, president of ITC. "This relationship has great potential to significantly expand the ProTime device market share in Europe and specifically the decentralized and home-testing arena in Germany.”
