Quinton and Cardiac Science Complete Merger

By HospiMedica staff writers
Posted on 04 Oct 2005
Quinton Cardiology Systems and Cardiac Science have announced the completion of their merger. More...
The new combined company, called Cardiac Science Corporation, has its headquarters in Bothell (WA, USA), the former home of Quinton Cardiology.

Cardiac Science Corp. will leverage the combined managerial, operational, and technology strengths of its predecessor companies in its attempt to become a global leader in the development, manufacturing, and marketing of a broad range of life-saving products and services under the well-known brand names of Burdick, Powerheart, and Quinton. Cardiac Science has been a leading provider of life-saving automated external defibrillators (AEDs), while Quinton Cardiology has focused on holter monitoring, electroradiography, and other advanced cardiology products.

"The merger creates a significant larger, debt-free company with excellent people, technology, and products, which speaks well for our future prospects,” said Raymond W. Cohen, former chairman and CEO of Cardiac Science, who will serve as chairman of the new company.

"We believe the new company will have enhanced prospects for revenue growth based on our expanded product portfolio, stronger distribution capabilities in both the domestic and international markets, and the potential to leverage combined technological expertise and manufacturing strengths,” said John R. Hinson, who will serve as president and CEO of the new company.
