Strategic Alliance in Cardiac Monitoring

By HospiMedica staff writers
Posted on 30 Apr 2001
A strategic alliance has been announced by Cardiac Science, Inc. More...
(Irvine, CA, USA) and Inovise Medical (Newburg, OR, USA), whereby the two companies will combine their proprietary technology to develop new cardiac monitoring products.

Cardiac Science will invest US$1 million in Inovise and has obtained a license to the company's proprietary software algorithm technology, called Cardiovise. This technology will be integrated into Cardiac Science's Powerheart monitor-defibrillator and its new Cardiac Rhythm Module, designed for use with standard patient monitors, to be released later this year.

The Cardiovise Cardiac Diagnostic System developed by Inovise is comprised of disposable smart electrode sensors that capture both sound and electrocardiogram (ECG) information from the heart and advanced algorithm software that analyzes this information. The findings are presented in a graphic format useful to doctors and patients.
Invose states it is the first breakthrough in low-cost cardiac diagnosis in more than 25 years.

"The integration of Cariovise technology will expand the capability of our fully automatic defibrillation and monitoring products by providing instant detection of the most common types of cardiac abnormalities,” said Raymond W. Cohen, president and CEO of Cardiac Science.
