Fully Automated Detection System Revolutionizes Point-Of-Care Testing

By HospiMedica International staff writers
Posted on 16 Jun 2025

A state-of-the-art, fully automated system simplifies diagnostics by integrating nucleic acid extraction and real-time PCR (RT-PCR) detection into a single, streamlined process. More...

Its user-friendly design, rapid turnaround time, and high sensitivity make it an essential tool for faster, more accurate point-of-care (POC) testing.

The OnePCR fully automated detection system from Genes2Me (Haryana, India) promises to transform POC testing. With its innovative design, OnePCR offers a simplified sample-to-result process that eliminates the need for transferring samples between devices. Utilizing advanced cartridge technology, it combines nucleic acid extraction and RT-PCR into a single integrated instrument, reducing the risk of human error. This simple “Sample In—result out” device streamlines workflow, delivering fast and accurate diagnostics in under 90 minutes. Its Multi-Target Detection capability can identify up to 20 targets from a single sample, making it a highly versatile tool for comprehensive diagnostics. Equipped with a five-channel fluorescence system and an innovative circular cassette design, it ensures precise nucleic acid extraction and RT-PCR-based fluorescence detection.

OnePCR operates independently with robotic liquid handling, completing each run in 30-70 minutes, providing rapid and reliable results. The system uses a single-use, disposable, sealed extraction and PCR cartridge to prevent contact with the instrument, environment, or carryover contamination. Built-in HEPA filters and UV light sterilization ensure efficient, contamination-free results. Its compact, lightweight, and ergonomic design is complemented by built-in, intuitive automated reporting software for seamless operation. OnePCR is equipped with QR code scanning on the cartridge for quick access to experiment protocols and features a user-friendly, intuitive built-in software to enhance efficiency and convenience.

Designed to be used beyond traditional lab environments, it can be operated by semi-skilled personnel with ease. The system includes pre-filled cartridges for both extraction and amplification, eliminating the need for manual liquid transfers and streamlining the process even further. OnePCR utilizes magnetic bead-based extraction technology, ensuring efficient and reliable nucleic acid extraction. Additionally, it can connect to multiple independent modules, allowing for multi-sample analysis, further enhancing its capacity and flexibility for high-throughput testing. The OnePCR system has now received 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), paving the way for the company to market and deploy its integrated qPCR platform across clinical laboratories, hospitals, and POC settings in the United States.
