Royal Philips Electronics (Philips; Amsterdam, The Netherlands) has introduced an anesthesia machine and patient monitors that deliver ease of use, durability, and innovation.

The IntelliSave AX700 is the centerpiece of the complete anesthesia workstation solutions from Philips. More...
Featuring a touchscreen user interface, electronic gas mixing, and a host of advanced ventilator modes, it also includes support for low-flow and minimal-flow anesthesia, as well as extensive ventilation capabilities. Additional capabilities include support for neonatal or heart-lung machine (HLM) scenarios and a built-in multigas module to monitor the levels of different gases. Platform levels are adjustable using a breathing system which is compact in size, allowing for easy assembly, disassembly, and cleaning. Built-in features support patient safety.

The IntelliVue MX400 and MX450 patient monitors, both are up to 10% lighter than the previous MP20/30 series, and have a built-in comfort handle that can accommodate a shifting center of gravity for enhanced portability. The monitors are also optimized for easy cleaning and disinfection. User-friendly features help improve diagnostic confidence and access to intranet patient information even during in-hospital transport, helping administrators to reduce workflow gaps in electronic medical records (EMRs), and satisfying the clinicians' need for ubiquitous access to information.

The IntelliSave AX700 communicates with Philips IntelliVue patient monitors, including the IntelliVue MX400 and MX450 patient monitors via IntelliBridge, a single, standards-based point of interoperability that enables transfer of data from the AX700 to an anesthesia information system such as Philips IntelliSpace Anesthesia, or to other clinical hospital information systems (HISs).

“Patient care today demands quick, reliable, and easy to use information at the clinicians' fingertips. Our new technologies include ease of use features, and more importantly, provide doctors with the right information at the right time to make those tough calls,” said Mike Mancuso, CEO of Patient Care and Clinical Informatics at Philips Healthcare. “Our goal at Philips is to bring to market innovative technologies that improve patient outcomes and meet the needs of clinicians all around the world. These new solutions do just that, and more.”
