The DEFIGARD Touch 7 is a new emergency combined monitor/defibrillator that is completely controlled and operated through an innovative seven-inch touch-screen display with particularly high brightness and resolution, enabling optimal display readability at all times. Thanks to projected capacitive touch technology, the display also enables highly responsive operation, even when wearing gloves. All monitoring and defibrillation functions are operated intuitively with proprietary Touch’n Save software environment.

Monitoring functions include continuous electrocardiogram (ECG) and 12-lead ECG diagnostic recording; respiration rate, measured through impedance variation when using the ECG electrodes; and blood oxygen (SPO2), carboxyhemoglobin (SPCO), an methemoglobin (SPMET) measurements are available (as an option) via Masimo Rainbow technology for rapid diagnostic and treatment of patients with carbon monoxide poisoning. Arterial blood pressure (BP) measurement, venous block, and continuous measurement of temperature are taken through skin sensors or endocavity probes.

Defibrillation functions include manual or semi-automatic modes with up to 200 Joules available at all times. In manual mode, synchronous or asynchronous defibrillation with multipulse biowave (biphasic) is delivered with high efficacy and safety, and with extremely low energy output. Pediatric electrode use is identified automatically, with energy levels adjusted accordingly. A LifePoint cardiopulmonary (CPR) feedback sensor assists in cardiac massage monitoring by displaying compression depth and rate and pressure relief at the end of each compression.

Two display modes are available; a physician mode, which presents values and waveforms as well as a manual defibrillation function, for a comprehensive overview of the patient. The second is rescue mode, where the values are displayed numerically and are well visible, even from a distance; a simple swipe gesture shifts between the two modes. High speed data transmission both during and after the intervention are available for online consultation with the regulating doctor. Depending on the location, data transmission can be performed via Wi-Fi or 3G cellular networks, with WPA2 protocols guaranteeing secure data protection.

The DEFIGARD Touch 7 was developed for use in extreme conditions, and can be operated in all land and water interventions. Thanks to its lightweight construction, it also offers new possibilities for air rescue operations, significantly saving fuel when used on an air plane or a helicopter. A further advantage is that the proprietary mounting bracket, which also serves as battery charger, works as a vibration damper, thus complying with land and air rescue operation standards.

The defibrillator is ready to use at all times, protected in a functional carrier bag where each accessory has its place, and is easily accessible and ready for immediate use as all components are connected. Regularly performed self-tests and a radiofrequency identification (RFID) transponder that monitors the defibrillator electrodes expiry date ensure immediate availability. The DEFIGARD Touch 7 Pulse is a product of Schiller (Baar, Switzerland).
