New Technology for Diagnosing Ischemic Heart Diseases

By HospiMedica staff writers
Posted on 02 Feb 2004
A novel system for monitoring and diagnosing ischmic heart diseases is based on proprietary electrocardiogram (ECG) signal acquisition and signal processing methods, which will be implemented in stress ECG systems, monitoring devices, defibrillators, and pacemakers. More...

Clinical studies testing the performance of the system in stress ECG procedures showed high diagnostic efficacy far surpassing that of the standard ECG, states BSP (Tel Aviv, Israel), which developed the new technology. Now trials are being launched with Maccabi Healthcare Services, a leading Israeli healthcare provider that will evaluate the integration of the system with Maccabi's array of noninvasive cardiology testing. BSP believes the system will for the first time enable early detection and reliable noninvasive diagnosis of heart diseases resulting from coronary artery disease.

BSP was founded by Dr. Amir Beker, Ph.D., now CEO of the company. A new round of financing is being planned in order to commercialize the prototype system and receive regulatory approvals. In addition, the Israeli government's Chief Scientist Office has approved an R&D grant for the company of U.S.$200,000.
