Portable Fetal Monitor Accommodates Twins

By HospiMedica International staff writers
Posted on 17 Apr 2012
An innovative fetal twins’ monitor uses specialized software to transfer non stress test (NST) traces to electronic medical record (EMR) systems. More...

The Fetal2EMR for singleton or twins monitoring couples advanced technology, a bright color display, and multiple screen views. The portable monitor includes a USB port, a built-in printer, and optional battery, while proprietary software permits data management, storage, and viewing on a laptop as well. A 12-hour memory function and the potential for easy transfer of fetal traces via a standard USB Flash Drive to an EMR system enhance the flexibility of the monitor. A rolling cart and a fetal stimulator are also available.

Included with monitor are two fetal heart rate (FHR) ultrasound transducers, a Toco probe to monitor uterine contractions, Thermo paper, an event marker, and three belts, as well as ultrasound gel and instruction manuals. The Fetal2EMR monitor is a product of Wallach Surgical Devices (Trumbull CT, USA).

Fetal monitoring is the standard of care in most modern labor and delivery care settings, but with increasing multiple births due to in vitro fertilization (IVF), monitoring of twins and triplets is now a required functionality.
