Critical Care Workstation Improves Efficiency

By HospiMedica staff writers
Posted on 30 Oct 2001
A new critical care workstation that provides access to key patient information on a single display located at the point of care is designed to improve workflow and efficiency.

Called Infinity Explorer, the workstation is part of the Infinity Patient Monitoring System of Siemens Medical Solutions, Inc. More...
(Erlangen, Germany). The Infinity Explorer is based on Siemens' standard medical software platform, syngo, which makes the Infinity Explorer easy to use and allows information to be configured to meet the needs of clinicians. The workstation builds on modular monitors, serving as a single user interface to let clinicians integrate real-time patient data with other forms of electronic patient data. The workstation may save hospital administrators time and costs associated with staffing and equipment needs, while the way it integrates data from a variety of bedside devices, hospital networks, and laboratory systems may ease the task of information technology managers.

"Information access is the most important element when it comes to the diagnosis and treatment of patients,” says Dr. Siegfried Russwurm, president of Siemens' Electromedical Systems Division. "Infinity Explorer ensures that clinicians have all the relevant information about a patient on one screen located at the bedside.”
