Software for Hand-held PC Monitoring

By HospiMedica staff writers
Posted on 25 Mar 2002
New software called Pocket Medic enables users to perform spirometry, oximetry and electrocardiography tests in virtually any environment on handheld PCs. More...
The software was introduced at the Annual Scientific Session of the American College of Cardiology in Atlanta (GA, USA).

Pocket Medic, which is based on the Microsoft Pocket PC platform, is designed to provide extreme portability, says QRS Diagnostic (Plymouth, MN, USA), the developer. The software works in conjunction with the company's PC card medical device platform. PC card medical devices plug into a PC card expansion pack used with handheld PCs. Pocket Medic allows users to store data, print reports, and export data to QRS Office Medic PC software. QRS is now developing compatible blood pressure and body temperature PC cards.

"We have realized our vision of building a pocket-size medical device platform for doctors and nurses,” said Spencer Lien, founder and CEO of QRS. "Our technology uses off-the-shelf Pocket PCs, resulting in much lower costs as compared to the competition, yet we provide many additional features for the end user.”
