Compression Device Assists Hemostasis of the Radial Artery

A Luer valve at the end of the clear-fill tube enables any standard syringe to be connected, allowing inflation and deflation of the bulb with air to provide compression of the radial puncture site. The textile wristband of the device contributes to patient comfort, while the surface adhesive enables a secure fit around all patient wrists, avoiding movement and dislocation.

The device simplifies hemostasis management by delivering hands-free adjustable pressure and by offering simple application and removal. In addition, both the size and shape of the Air-Band inflatable bulb minimizes the compression risk to surrounding nerve structures or areas other than the radial puncture site. The Maquet Air-Band Radial Compression Device is a product of MAQUET (Rastatt, Germany), and has been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and received the European Union CE marking of approval.
