By HospiMedica staff writers
Posted on 09 Jan 2001
Sectra (Linkoping, Sweden) has received a US$3.5 million order from Vasterbotten County in Sweden for picture archiving and communications systems (PACS) and systems for processing digital x-rays. More...
The systems will be used in the radiology departments of health-care facilities in the county.

The order is for Sectra's system for the digital processing of x-ray information (RIS, radiology information systems) and x-ray images (PACS). The contract also includes a five-year rental agreement for software and hardware from Sectra. The company says the digitization will be carried out in stages.

The Swedish-based company operates through partners in most of the world but delivers directly to end customers in northern Europe. Currently, Sweden has the largest penetration of PACS in the world, notes Sectra. The company has a dominant market position, responsible for more than 60% of all film-free installations in the country.
