Large PACS Project Begins in Taiwan

One of the largest private hospital groups in Asia, Chang Gung Memorial Hospital (CGMH), has recently embarked on an ambitious PACS project to connect key hospital sites in Taiwan. More...
The CGMH has selected BarcoView (Kortrijk, Belgium) to fill its medical imaging display needs for the project.

In the multimillion euro transaction, BarcoView will supply its MeDis medical greyscale display systems as well as some of its new Coronis flat panel display systems for installation at the various sites. BarcoView's MeDis display systems are designed to deliver image quality that conforms with international standards for medical imaging (DICOM) and is consistent with the critical requirements for clinical and diagnostic reading. Each MeDis system consists of one or more high-resolution greyscale displays, a single or dual-head high-speed display controller, and a dedicated softcopy QA management software package. The CGMH project is expected to be completed by the end of 2002 and will be a strategic reference site for BarcoView's medical imaging business in Asia.

"The Chang Gung Memorial Hospital is known for its high standard of patient care as well as for its modern infrastructure and facilities. It is therefore no surprise that for its PACS project, CGMH has chosen Barco. The local presence of Barco in Taiwan is obviously an additional reason for CGMH's decision,” said Vincent Hung, director of the medical information department of CGMH.
