Posted on 06 May 2004
The 20th international symposium on critical care and point-of-care testing will be held in Wurzburg (Germany) June 9-12, 2004, under the title "The Value of Critical Care and Point-of-Care Testing: Who Benefits?” Participants will look at the value of critical care and point-of-care testing, with a special focus on the clinical applications for cardiology, coagulation, diabetes, and neonatology. More...
The meeting is designed for laboratory directors, clinical scientists, medical technologists, and point-of-care (POC) coordinators. The keynote address will discuss the utilization of critical care and point-of-care testing and present an overview of evidence-based medicine and POCT outcome studies.

The scientific program will include 27 presentations featuring speakers from nine countries and about 30 posters. The technology, methodology, standardization, and management of critical care and POC tests will be reviewed as they apply to specific clinical settings. Participants will be exposed to current thoughts and trends in the field, technologies emerging in the critical care and point-of-care environments, and to those individuals in the front line of either developing or implementing this testing.

The symposium is sponsored by the Critical Care and Point-of-Care Testing Division of the American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC), under the auspices of the International Federation for Clinical Chemistry (IFCC). More details are available on the AACC website.
