Posted on 20 Nov 2007
An analyzer accurately measures glycosylated hemoglobin A1C, an indicator of a diabetic patient's glucose control, while the patient waits. More...
This enables same-visit consultations and better patient compliance

The analyzer is Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments- (CLIA)-waived, which permits existing staff to perform the test. It uses a small fingerstick blood sample and is calibrated to the Diabetes Control and Complications Trial (DCCT) standard for laboratory accurate results.

Called the in2it analyzer, it was launched for the point-of-care (POC) market by Bio-Rad, Inc. (Hercules, CA, USA), a company that manufactures and distributes clinical diagnostic and life science research products. Simple, convenient, and fast in near-patient testing, the in2it A1C is small, portable, and fully automated, delivering results in minutes from a patient sample.

"The release of the in2it A1C analyzer is another example of Bio-Rad's continued commitment to provide the tools that help physicians, laboratories, and healthcare professionals provide better patient care to those affected by diabetes,” said John Goetz, Bio-Rad vice president and group manager clinical diagnostics.

Bio-Rad Laboratories manufactures and distributes a broad range of products for hospitals, universities, major research institutions, as well as biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies.
