Two Oximetry Devices Developed for POC Monitoring

By HospiMedica staff writers
Posted on 05 Dec 2007
Two new oximetry devices have been developed for use by medical professionals, hospitals, and managed care facilities.

The PulseOx 6000, a finger device and the PulseOx 6100, a hand-held device, use reflective pulse oximetry (RPO) technology for accurate and reliable measurements of blood oxygen saturation and heart rate, and include a new AutoSpot technology for patients suffering from low perfusion. More...
Both products have regulatory clearance for marketing in the United States and are planned to become commercially available in the first quarter of 2008.

The two oximeters, which were developed by SPO Medical, Inc. (Simi Valley, CA, USA), were launched in the United States at the 53rd congress of the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC), which took place in Orlando (FL, USA), on December 1-3, 2007. SPO Medical is a developer of biosensor and microprocessor technologies for use in portable monitoring devices. Its technology uses information gathered from the reflectance of light on the human blood stream, in a non-invasive manner, to monitor key vital signs.
