Agfa HealthCare (Mortsel, Belgium), a leading provider of information technology- (IT)-enabled clinical workflow and diagnostic imaging solutions, and Meridian Technique, Ltd. (Southampton, UK) have signed an agreement to integrate Meridian's orthopedic digital planning system, OrthoView, into Agfa HealthCare's Impax for Orthopedics solution.

Developed in conjunction with the orthopedic community, OrthoView consists of five specialist modules: Joint Replacement, Fracture Management, Limb Deformity Correction, Pediatrics, and Spine. Combined, OrthoView and Agfa HealthCare's Impax embedded measurement tools provide a complete set of functions for the orthopedic department.

OrthoView allows orthopedic surgeons to preoperatively plan and template surgical procedures on-screen. As hospitals worldwide start to phase out film X-rays and introduce digital images, surgeons require a system that will let them plan surgical procedures more quickly and easily. The solution will be provided by Agfa HealthCare as part of its Impax Orthopedic Suite offering.

"Integrating Meridian's OrthoView into our Impax solution was a natural step for Agfa HealthCare," stated Gilbert Hersschens, global product manager orthopedics at Agfa HealthCare. "We aim to meet our customer's demands and OrthoView's solid reputation is helping us meet these needs. The deep integration into the solution allows us to deliver the best of all worlds to our orthopedic customers, Agfa HealthCare's stable and reliable Impax solution, coupled with OrthoView's capabilities."

"Agfa HealthCare is a key partner of ours and a major provider of digital image solutions worldwide." said Chris Pinner, vice president sales and marketing worldwide. "The close integration implemented by Agfa has created a powerful solution for orthopedic doctors when faced by the challenges of going digital."

OrthoView is used in hospitals and clinics worldwide. With a comprehensive library of digital templates from major orthopedic implant manufacturers, it offers preoperative planning and templating for all joint replacement surgery. Quick and simple to use, it provides accurate and reliable recommendations for the orthopedic team.
